PRODUCTS - VIBRATION ISOLATION PRODUCTS
CHOOSE ANOTHER CATEGORY :

Machinery generates vibrations which are transmitted to the surroundings and can influence the manufacturing processes of other equipment and thereby have an impact on product quality. Such vibrations can also be a disturbing nuisance for the vicinity and for the environment, and can also lead to damages to buildings. Sylomer  polyurethane elastomers are special materials designed to reduce vibration and structure-borne noise. Depending on the requirements, these materials are available in a wide range of densities, thicknesses and dimensions. Their static load capacity lies between 0.005 N/mm2 - 3.0 N/mm2 (0.5 t/m2 - 300 t/m2). Both the static and dynamic characteristics of these products are exactly defined, allowing the effectiveness of the elastic suspension to be calculated in advance.

Sylomer , Sylodyn , Sylomer  HD by Getzner Werkstoffe GmbH (Austria), are high-tech, micro-cellular polyurethane elastomers that can be used for a wide variety of industrial applications. The materials available cover a density range from 150kg/m3 to 1000kg/m3. In many cases, Sylomer, Sylodyn and Sylomer HD are used as a spring (vibration insulation) or for shock absorbing (vibration damping). The characteristics of the elastic or absorbing elements can be adjusted through the material structure, construction method and loads by selecting the proper combination of material type, load bearing area and thickness. Due to their excellent mechanical properties, our materials are also ideally suited for protecting equipment against wear, for sealing and for friction linings, or as elastic elements in general. Sylomer, Sylodyn and Sylomer HD are produced as continuous sheets and can then be tailored to meet customer's specific needs. Stamped or molded parts are within the scope of manufacturing.

Sylomer is used as an elastic foundation for pumps, furnaces, air conditioners, generators, printing press and many other equipment either directly under the machine itself as pads, or as an elastic foundation based on full surface area or concrete floating beams.

With Sylomer® we offer our customers a comprehensive package of products and engineering services:

• Calculations and material selection for specific application
• Dimension proposals and variants
• Material behavior in specific applications
• Calculated forecast of spring deflection, natural frequency and efficiency
• Calculation of dynamic vibration ranges
• Construction and installation suggestions
• Development and design of entire systems with elastic components

All Sylomer® applications are subject to precise calculations by Gresam's trained technical department.

With Sylomer, we can offer the best solutions for the most effective isolations against vibration and structure-borne noise, thus fulfilling all requirements of our customers cost effectively, and at competitive prices.

Delivery Form:
In Rolls: The standard types are available with the following dimensions:
Width x Length: 500x1500mm
Thickness: 12 and 25mm (additional thicknesses are made by adhesion)

Sylomer materials are manufactured to meet the most stringent demands. They must be suitable for use in an enormously wide scope of applications, provide outstanding insulation and withstand the extreme conditions of highly varied installations sites.

Laboratory Tests

All materials are tested both internally by the quality control laboratory and by internationally renowned institutions, in terms of their durability, quality and effectiveness. Such test have been conducted by the following institutes:

•Federal Testing Centre Arsenal, Vienna, Austria
•Fraunhofer-Institute for Building Physics, Stuttgart, Germany
•Testing and Inspection Institute Vienna Municipal Works, Dept. 39, Austria
•Technical Inspection Association Rhineland, Institute  for Environmental Protection, Cologne, Germany
•Technical University of Munich, Chair and Institute for Road, Railway and Airfield Construction, Germany
•Mϋller-BBM GmbH, Planegg bei Munich, Germany

Sylomer Characteristics

Sylomer materials are resistant against oils, greases, diluted acids and retain their elasticity even at very low temperatures.

Sylomer’s unique cellular structure is created in a foaming process that does not use environmentally damaging foaming agents.  The materials contain no softeners.  Polyurethane materials can be recycled.

As a direct bearing support for machinery

 • Full-surface mount
 • Strip bearings
 • Discrete bearings

As a Mounting on an additional base

Machines whose mounting must be tuned to a lower frequency range or which develop strong dynamic forces are usually mounted an additional base, such as a machine mount or foundation. Sylomer® materials can be used in two ways in such applications: as active vibration insulation (to protect the surroundings) or as passive insulations (to protect the machine).

• Full-Surface Mount on an additional base
• Strip Bearings on an additional base
• Discrete Bearings on an additional base

♦ Sylomer  has also proven as a passive isolation of buildings from structure-borne noise such as rail and road traffic.

♦ In railway construction, Sylomer  is used as sub-ballast mats for subways, light-rails, and main line railways. Sylomer® is also used as resilient pads for rail fastenings and for mass-spring systems.

♦ Sylomer stair strips are sued as full elastic insulation of stairs and landing from the rest of the building for foot traffic sound insulation.

Sylomer

Sylomer® : The spring/shock absorber-combination

Sylomer® is a Poly-urethane elastomer, used as a most effective insulation against vibration and structure borne noise, mainly in building construction and industrial applications.

It is a versatile material for a wide range of applications.

Sylodyn

Sylodyn® : The spring

Sylodyn® is a cellular Polyurethane elastomer with excellent dynamic characteristics: its static and dynamic modulus of elasticity are almost identical.  The low creeping tendency under static and dynamic loads, as well as a very low permanent set even at high temperatures, make Sylodyn® an excellent material for solving difficult vibration problems.  Sylodyn® products are produced in density ranges from 300kg/m3 to 1,000 kg/m3.  It is a material  which is equally “soft” both dynamically and statically.

Sylomer HD

Sylomer® HD: The shock absorber

The key advantage of Sylomer  HD is its high energy-absorbing and damping properties.
